The Michael Cahill Bed and Breakfast in Ashtabula Harbor offers comfortable, spacious, overnight lodging in a landmark home integral to the Harbor neighborhood since 1887. Mr. Cahill, an emigrant from Ireland in 1850, was a prosperous saloon keeper in the harbor area until his death in 1898. His home was then purchased by a prominent Swedish businessman, Andrew Dalin, in 1906. The property was to remain in the Dalin family until 1983, when purchased by the present owners, restored and opened as a BandB in 1986. In 1988, the home was listed on the National Register of Historical Places for its Stick-Style architecture. Modern Ashtabula history begins in 1796 with the arrival of Moses Cleavelands survey party in Conneaut harbor. Situated along 27 miles of Lake Erie shoreline, it is the largest county, areawise, in Ohio.
