Probably the most unique feature about Namibia is its space. Incessant deserts stretch for miles to meet the most dramatic sunsets you can imagine. This country, with its strong German influence, has a magnificent coastline speckled with charming little towns rich in history. One such town is Swakopmund. Built in and around its beautifully restored Old Station Building, dating back to 1901, is the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre. ACCOMMODATION: The 44 twin rooms, 30 family rooms, 14 luxury rooms and 2 luxury suites are all decorated in a Victorian style reminiscent of a bygone era of grace and civility. Rooms have individual aircon, television, tea/coffee making facilities, bathroom with bath, shower and toilet, direct dial phones, electronic safes, electric razor plugs, fully stocked mini bars, hair dryers, eight channel TV including a German channel and MNet. Meals can be served in your room at certain times and there is a 24-hour room service snack menu. DINING: Befitting its Victorian theme, dinner at the Platform 1 is a slightly ostentatious affair. Here you can choose the a la carte menu or a speciality buffet. Platform 1 also serves breakfast, lunch and light meals through the day. Alternatively, you can opt for The Captain's Tavern restaurant, next to the Mermaid Casino. A catch of fresh line fish, shellfish and other seafood is served straight from the Namibian waters. For something totally different, you can join our "Desert Evening". A bountiful banquet is served in the desert, under a mantle of stars.
