The land was originally purchased by Montefiore from the estate of Judah Touro in 1855 and it’s first housing project was called Mishkenot Sha’ananim and was completed in 1980. It consisted of 28 apartments,each 1 and ½ rooms! Today,Yemin Moshe and Mishkenot Sha’ananim are considered one of the finest residential neighborhoods in Jerusalem.
