For over 50 years, the Sheep Mountain Lodge has hosted travelers from across Alaska and around the world. We are located along the scenic Glenn Highway between Palmer and Glennallen. We are approximately 2 hours driving time from Anchorage. Your hosts, lifelong Alaskans Zack and Anjanette Steer, welcome you to their home in the wilderness. Anjanette has extensive knowledge of local plant and wildlife species. Zack has twice completed the 1049-mile Iditarod sled dog race. Their local knowledge and hospitality will make your stay especially memorable. Sheep Mountain Lodge is located near the Matanuska Glacier and the world-famous Lion's Head river run on the Matanuska River. Make our lodge your home after a thrilling day on the river.
