Le Pech Long has an exceptional setting, two houses at the end of a ridge, surrounded by big oaks and acacias, and with stunning views. Nearby are the Dordogne river, and the beautiful towns of Sarlat and Domme. Around the houses and the swimming pool is a garden, approximately one acre, for your exclusive use with a large lawn, bushes and flowerbeds, and in the surroundings farming fields and woods. The two houses, the Old House and the New House, built in the Perigordine golden limestone, are partly more than 200 years. They are tastefully restored for your comfort, but with traditional features retained. Together they sleep 11 persons. In July and August they are let out together. The pool is 5 by 1o meters, equipped with sun beds for everyone and a garden dinner table. The property is excellent for large families or other groups wanting privacy. The New House The New House has two double and one single bedroom, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob, and washing machine. The grand lounge on the ground flour has a traditional fireplace, beams and wide stone stairs leading to the first floor. The furnishings include a dinner area for eight, a corner sofa, coffee table, reclining chairs, piano and English satellite television and DVD. French windows lead to a conservatory, also fully furnished. The terrace has a dining table for eight people. The Old House The Old house fits the image of the old French country house, its exterior decorated with the century old stone staircase and a bread-oven. The kitchen (with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave/oven, gas hob and washing machine) and the two bathrooms are all newly restored. The three double bedrooms have also been redecorated. Both the dining area with a table for six and the lounge reflect the charm of old country living, both with large fire-places. The lounge is furnished with a sofa and chairs, a coffee table and a TV-set with French television. Things to do... The beautiful Dordogne valley is well-known for its charming Perigordine architecture, its many historical monuments, the art of cuisine and its local wines. A wide variety of activities are available a few minutes’ drive away. The culturally interested have lots of castles, caves and museums to visit. A short drive brings you to the bastide towns of Domme or Sarlat, or the picturesque castles of Beynac or Castlenaud. All towns have their markets showing the real French way. Or golf, swimming, canoeing, cycling, tennis and of course walking on some of all the tracks available through forests, over fields and through picturesque villages. Directions... The nearest airport is Bergerac which is less than an hour’s drive away. Limoges, Rodez and Toulouse are within two hours’ drive, and Bordeaux are three hours’ drive away. Alternatively, several sea crossings are available, e.g. Dover to Dunkerque and Calais.
