Since 1798, The Parker Borden House, now the home of the Hearth House, has stood at the northern tip of Bristol's Hope Street, only a few short blocks from the center of town. Conveniently located midway between burgeoning Providence 15 minutes to our north, and Newport's Gold Coast, 20 minutes to our south, Hearth House, an authentic example of federal architecture, stands at the juncture of Hope and Thames Streets and offers the warmth of its 10 fireplaces in winter, cool breezes in summer and, in all seasons, sweeping views of Bristol Harbor.
We invite you to stay in one of our light-filled guest rooms, each featuring authentic furnishings, private bath, working fireplace, air conditioning, and a view of Bristol Harbor or our lush English Garden.
Angie and Tony Margiotta have been together since college days. Both are former New York City teachers who happened to visit Bristol some 5 years ago, fell in love with the town and its people and knew that they had found the perfect spot for realizing Angie's dream of opening a bed and breakfast. When Hearth House, - formerly named the Parker Borden House Bed and Breakfast, came on the market in April 2000, they decided to purchase the 200 year old federal home with the ocean view and 10 fireplaces.
Angie is a former high school Drama and ESL teacher and is very proud of the ground breaking school she's spent the last 6 years working at Newcomers High School in Queens, NYC. The school has become internationally known for its academic work with foreign students from 60 different countries. She loves teen-agers and plans to continue working with them in some capacity here in Bristol.
Angie has also been involved in acting and has had her own cabaret act. Her love for decorating, gardening, cooking, entertaining and especially meeting new people makes her and running a bed and breakfast a real "love" match.
