Conover's Bay Head Inn is recognized as one of the first and finest bed and breakfast inns in New Jersey. Previous owners in the early 1900's include William and Mary Bristol of Princeton and the L. Hastings Alexander family. By 1912 architect M.B. Medary of Philadelphia redesigned the Alexander summer cottage into the full service Winchester Inn. The Inn has been recognized for fine accommodations since its purchase by the Conovers in 1970.
Your Visit Will Be A Special One-As you step inside the Inn a delicate scent embraces you. Pleasing colors create a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The parlor is centered with a cut-stone fireplace. Antiques, family photographs, original art and books fill the room with warmth and comfort.
Bay Head captures the feeling of a late 19th century residential seaside village. The distinctive weather-shingled houses give the village a sense of permanence and character. Manicured lawns and flower gardens are a refreshing contrast to Bay Head's pristine private ocean beaches. Antique shops and boutiques are a short walk away. Within a few minutes of the inn you can eat clams on a half shell or a gourmet dinner. Historic site tours, concerts, seafood festivals.
