Friendship Valley guest rooms were named for the five previous families who owned the property. Each family added to the legacy of the property. Captain Timothy Prince was the first, followed by the Bensons who were abolitionists.
Daniel Putnam Tyler, local attorney in the 1800's, was the third owner and great-grandson of local revolutionary war hero, Israel Putnam. The Kinglsey family owned the property for over 100 years and were descendents of Moses Cleveland, founder of Cleveland, Ohio. The Wendels were instrumental in the formation of the Brooklyn Historical Society and providing information for the historical marker in Brooklyn Center.
