Welcome to Station House, once owned by British Railways, and, before them, Cambrian Railways. The railway line ran from Afonwen near Pwllheli to Caernarfon. The whole line was closed in December 1964.
You may be interested to know that the bathroom of Station House was originally the ticket office. There is still evidence of the original fire place that was used in there. Most of the original house remains with a few more additions.
The railway has now been turned into a traffic-free cycle track, called Lôn Eifion, and is a very safe place to cycle with children. The cycle track runs alongside and crosses the river Afon Dwyfach in several places, and evening walks are a pleasure and very relaxing. The track is just behind the cottage and fortunately is not widely known.
The cottage has parking space for one vehicle which can be accessed at the rear of the property. Bryncir itself is a small village with one pub. The nearest town is Porthmadog.
The cottage is ideally situated for visiting the Lleyn Peninsula, and Bangor, Caernarfon, Llandudno and Bettws-y-Coed are all within a few hours drive.
