Nestled in the hills three hours northwest of Guatemala City, Lake Atitlan is a mile high wonder of startlingly blue, wind-tossed waters set against a backdrop of three 10,000-foot volcanoes: Tolimán, Atitlán and San Pedro, jabbing at the southern sky.
Author Aldous Huxley once called it the most beautiful lake in the world.
Activities in this wonderful place range from a relaxing massage in our spa, laying by the pool, horse back riding, visits to the maya communities surrounding the lake or to the handicraft markets at Chichicastenango or Sololá.
And for those who seek a little extra adrenaline rush a vibrant hike on the volcanoes or waterskiing in the fresh waters of the lake.
There are twelve Mayan villages around the lake. The hotel organizes custom trips to one or more villages, where guests go back in time to an ancient world of traditions, rituals and color.
