Rentalo’s Practices

October 13th, 2006

Rentalo.com is one of the leading vacation rentals website claiming to have over 100,000 listings from over 15,000 destinations. They charge about $150 per year for vacation home owners to sign up and list their properties.

Rentalo.com is the Internet’s #1 global lodging directory. More than 4 million travelers have successfully used Rentalo to find the best values in privately owned vacation homes, villas, condos, apartments, cottages, cabins, chalets, farms, castles, etc. We also list small and large hotels, bed & breakfasts, hostels, flats, country inns, and other lodgings.

But, say you are one of these customers and you pay them $150 usd for listing your condo in Gulf Port Mississippi. Now, assume a visitor to the rentalo website is seeking a Gulf Port condo and they come across your listing… Great! Ok they send you a query showing interest in your condo. So far, so good.

But we have been informed that they also send out that visitors query to other rental owners in your area. That’s right. They send that same query originaly meant to only you, out to other condos in Gulf Port and surrounding areas like Biloxi.

There is perhaps good in getting the inquiry out to multiple customers, as it can be a good service to the rental seeker. But for rental owners who pay $150 a year to be listed on the website, they probably won’t appreciate having their inquries sent to others.
