Welcome to the Astor Private Hotel where you are assured of a warm personal welcome. The Astor is a small, friendly, comfortable and very affordable accomodation option while staying in the capital of Tasmania, Hobart.
Our guests enjoy old fashioned personal service with someone always on hand to gladly assist with directions, travel arrangements or recommendations on where to eat.
The Astor has a history too ... completed in 1922, the Astor was created from the renovations of two conjoined Georgian townhouses which were the rooms and residences of two prominent Hobart surgeons. 1930 saw a refurbishment of the Astor - hot and cold running water to the guest rooms and 'bed lights attached to bedsteads' - a very modern amenity for its time.
These days the Astor maintains the charm and ambience of earlier times and we look forward to having you stay with us.
The Astor offers accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes. There are 23 rooms situated over 2 floors. One wing of the Astor has recently undergone a major refurbishment and the wonderful high ceiling rooms are now beautifully appointed queen en suite rooms.
The remainder of the Astor is dedicated to budget rooms - the majority of which have shared bathroom facilities with the bathrooms located in the corridors. As there are only 9 rooms per floor and 3 bathrooms there is rarely a time when there isn't a bathroom available for your personal use. The bathrooms are maintained regularly throughout the day.
