Pomona was built and named by Jans August Jensen in 1905 as the homestead for the first commercial apple orchard in the Tamar Valley.
In Roman mythology, Pomona was the Goddess of Orchards and Gardens. The orchard was set up in response to the declining fortunes of the Beaconsfield Gold Mine. Mr Jensen went on to become Minister for Navy.
After some fun months renovating, Paula and Bruce opened Pomona Bed and Breakfast in December of 1998, and after having enjoyed the experience, expanded into luxury Spa Cottages.
